A science-based color theory course, in 25 bite-size video lessons.

You'll learn why colors can mix additively, subtractively, or optically, and why paint mixing is a weird thing all its own. This course is aimed at artists, designers, and/or teachers, who work with both traditional and digital media. My hope is that a solid understanding of the basic science behind color mixing will empower you creatively.

Topics include

  • How color perception works
  • How additive mixing is based on the structure of our color vision system
  • Different ways to model color as a three-dimensional space
  • How and why subtractive mixture paths "curve"
  • How optical mixing and simultaneous contrast are related
  • How the mixing of pigments is influenced by particle size

When you purchase the course, you receive immediate access to all 25 videos. Videos are about 5-7 minutes long each, and include 21 lessons and 4 reviews. You will also receive access to an answer key to the final review.
